SOCIETIES AND SEMINARS

Rajendra College (Autonomous), Balangir

The Faculty Societies and Departmental Seminars are other nominated bodies for the students of this college.

SCIENCE SOCIETY

There shall be a Society for all the students of the faculty of Science. The name of the Society shall be Rajendra College (Autonomous) Science Society. Membership of the Society is compulsory for all Science Students.

Objectives of the Science Society :

  1. To enable the students to acquire wide knowledge in science by organizing popular lectures, debates.
  2. and discussions on suitable science topics and by organizing science exhibitions and competitions.
  3. To invite science scholars / scientists to address the Society.
  4. To create an atmosphere among students for writing articles on topics, related to modern science.
  5. To conduct the Annual Function of the Society.

Executive Body of Science Society :

There shall be an Executive Body of the Science Society comprising:

  1. President (Principal)
  2. Vice-President (The senior most teacher in the Science department to be nominated by the Principal)
  3. Associate Vice-President (Teacher taken from all Science department, to be nominated by the Principal.
  4. A Secretary, an Assistant Secretary, class representatives one from each science class and a women member representing all women students of science to be nominated by the Principal from a penal of names recommended by the Vice-President.

The term of office for all student office-bearers referred to in 20 (iv) shall cease by the end of the session concerned.

The Assistant Secretary shall assist the Secretary in the discharge of his duties and shall assume the latter's responsibilities in his absence. The Vice-President shall remain in overall charge of funds.

COMMERCE SOCIETY

There shall be a Society for all the Students of the Faculty of Commerce. The name of the society shall be Rajendra College (Autonomous) Commerce Society. Membership of the Society is compulsory for all commerce students.

Objectives of the Commerce Society :

  1. To organise seminars, debates, discussions and lectures on Commerce topics, to conduct competitions among commerce students and to hold exhibitions of commercial products.
  2. To organise commerce excursions and study tours, and to carry on such other activities as may be conductive to the academic interest of commerce students of the College.
  3. To conduct the Annual Function of the Society.

Executive Body of the Commerce Society :

There shall be an Executive Body of the Commerce Society, comprising

  1. President (Principal)
  2. Vice - President ( The senior most teachers in the faculty of Commerce to be nominated by the Principal)
  3. Associate Vice- Presidents (Teachers in the faculty of commerce, to be nominated by the Principal.
  4. A Secretary, an Assistant Secretary, class representatives (one from each class) to be nominated by the Principal from a panel of names recommended by the Vice - President.

The terms of Office for all student office bearers referred to in 24 (iii) shall cease by the end of the session concerned.

The Assistant Secretary shall assist the Secretary in the discharge of his duties, and shall assume the latter's responsibilities in his absence.

The Vice- President shall remain in overall charge of the funds.

HUMANITIES SOCIETY

There shall be a Society for all the Students of the faculty of Humanities. The name of the society shall be "Rajendra College (Autonomous) Humanities Society*. Membership of the Society is compulsory for all Humanities students.

Objectives and Functions of the Humanities Society :

  1. To organize extra-mural lectures, such as lectures on literature, spiritual discourses, lectures on social sciences or lectures on topic of general interest. Eminent personalities in these field may be invited to address the Society.
  2. To organize interdisciplinary lectures, if possible.
  3. To organize poem/story reading sessions.
  4. To conduct the Annual Function of the Society.

Executive Body of the Humanities Society:

There shall an Executive Body of the Humanities Society, comprising

  1. President (Principal)
  2. Vice-President (The senior most teacher in the faculty of Humanities to be nominated by the Principal)
  3. Associate Vice-Presidents (Teachers taken from various Humanities Departments nominated by the Principal)
  4. A Secretary, an Assistant Secretary, class representatives (one from each class) and a women member representing all Humanities students to be nominated by the Principal from a panel of names to be suggested by the Heads of the Humanities Departments and recommended by the Vice-President.

The term of office for all student office-bearers referred to in 28 (iv) shall cease by the end of the session concerned. The Assistant Secretary shall assist the Secretary in the discharge of his duties, and shall assume the letter's responsibilities in his absence.

The Vice- President shall remain in overall charge of funds.

DEPARTMENTAL SEMINARS

The College shall have the following Departmental Seminars :

Every department shall organize Seminar which will conduct meetings at least once a month excluding vacations.

Membership of the Seminar :

All Honours and P.G. Students of the Department shall be the members of the Seminar.

Executive Body :

Every Department Seminar shall have an Executive Body, comprising.

  1. President (H.O.D)
  2. Vice-President (Teacher in charge of Seminar to be nominated by the H.O.D)
  3. A Secretary and an Assistant Secretary to be nominated by the Head of the Department from among the student members.
  4. The Executive Body shall work under the overall control of the Principal.

The Executive Body of a Departmental Seminar shall chalk out plans and programmes of the Seminars for the session concerned. Accordingly, the Secretary and Assistant Secretary in consultation with the President shall carry out the activities of the seminars. The President shall be responsible for accounts.

The Principal shall be kept informed of all activities of the Seminar.
