GENERAL RULES

  1. All scholarships and aids are granted subject to satisfactory conduct and diligent studies.
  2. Scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if the progress or conduct of the Scholar is found unsatisfactory.
  3. No person receiving a Scholarship shall be permitted to hold any other Scholarship provided by the Government wholly or partly without the special sanction of the Director of Higher Education (D.H.E.) Such sanction may be accorded only in case of very distinguished merit.
  4. Absence without leave for any period not exceeding thirty days at a stretch will entail loss of Scholarship for twice the period of absence.
  5. Absence without leave for more than thirty days at a stretch will entail forfeiture of Scholarship.
  6. Merit and indigence are the criteria for award of financial assistance to students.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND AIDS

  1. Science Talent Search - Examination is conducted some time during the month of January under the auspices of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Delhi. Only students securing at least 55 percent marks in Science in HSC Examination are eligible to apply. Each examinee is supposed to submit a "Science Project Report" to the Principal.
  2. National Scholarships - The Ministry of Human Resources and Development. Government of India, award Scholarships for Post-Matriculation studies including technical or professional Education on the basis of the result of the High School Certificate or CBSE or ICSE Examinations every year. Students obtaining 60 per cent or above in the aggregate are eligible to apply.
  3. National Loan Scholarship - The Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Government of India provides financial assistance to needy and meritorious students, under the schemes of "National Loan Scholarship" so as to enable them to complete their education. The scheme also provides an incentive to take up teaching as a profession for 10 years and exempts them for repayment of the loan.
  4. Government of India Scholarship - is awarded to the students from Non-Hindi-speaking States for Post-metric studies in Hindi. Ministry of Human Resources and Development of Govt. of India grants Scholarship to students offering Hindi as on Optional subject provided that their mother tongue is not Hindi.
  5. Government of India Merit Scholarship is available for children of Primary & Secondary School teachers. Students securing 60 per cent marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination.
  6. Senior College Merit Scholarship - Govt. of Orissa awards scholarships to meritorious students who secure 60 per cent marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination.
  7. The Govt. of India through the State Govt. awards scholarships to blind, deaf, dumb or physically handicapped students.
  8. Children of recognised freedom fighters and Ex-Service defense personnel may apply to the Principal.
  9. Students of Science or Mathematics may avail themselves of National and State govt. Loan Stipend after executing a bond.
  10. Senior College Merit - cum - Poverty Scholarship. Govt. of Orissa awards this scholarship to students securing 50% marks or above in H.S. Examination conducted the CHSE, Orissa & whose parents annual income is within Rs.24,000/- per annum.

Fee Studentship :

Free studentships are granted to deserving students up to 12% of the total strength of the college. Poor & deserving students should apply to the Principal.

Aids from the Social Service Guild.

Deserving students may apply for such help, if necessary.

COMPETITIONS AND PRIZES

  1. Labanya Prava Memorial Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount of Rs.300/- deposited which is donated by Sri Sisirakumar Gupta, Ex. Reader in Philosophy of the College, in memory of his late mother Labanya Prava Gupta, is awarded every year to a candidate who secures first position among the successful candidates of the college in the C.H.S.E. examination.
  2. T-Veerama Memorial Fund - The interest accured upon the amount of Rs.500/- which is deposited and is donated by Sri T.V. Lakhmipati, Ex-Lecturer in mathematics of this college in memory of his late mother T.Veerama is awarded annually to a poor deserving student of the college.
  3. Collective Cash Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount of Rs.500/- collected and deposited by Sri P. Satpathy and his friend in the form of small charities from friends and well wishers on 16.05.1977 as an experiment of self help is awarded to a student of this college who accomplished a work of public good.
  4. Balangir District Red-Cross Debating Competition Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount of Rs.500/- donated / deposited by the Balangir District Branch of Red Cross to keep (i) the memory of Red Cross alive so far as the students of this college are concerned and (ii) to help in channelizing the vibrant energy of the student in constructive ways, is awarded to the best debater in English.
  5. Collective Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount Rs.3000/- donated by Sri Shrinibash Acharya and friends in memory of Late Ratikanta Mohapatra, an Ex-Student of this college during the session 1974-75 is awarded to a Science Graduate securing highest marks. It is awarded on the Annual Day function of Science Society.
  6. Rasheswari Purohit Memorial Prize - Sri Padmanava Purohit, Ex-employee of this college has donated a sum of Rs.500/- in the memory of his late lamented mother for award of a prize out of the interest accrued every year to a student of Physics Hons. who will secure highest position in the college. The prize is awarded on the annual day function of Science Society every year.
  7. Jayanarayan Choudhury Memorial Prize - The interest accured upon the amount of Rs.1000/- deposited which is donated by Sri Badanam Agrawal of Balangir in memory of Jayanarayan Choudhury is awarded annually to the best Commerce Graduate having good conduct.
  8. Memorial for Mother Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount of Rs.1000/- deposited which is donated by Sri Badanam Agrawal of Balangir in memory of his mother is awarded to a poor, wel-behoved and sincere student of Commerce faculty of this College.
  9. Postgraduate Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount of Rs.500/- donated by Sri Sudhir Kumar Chand, Ex-President, Rajendra College Students' Union, Balangir is awarded on the annual function of the Students Union to a postgraduate student in commerce of this college who secures the highest marks in the anual examination.
  10. Fakirchandra Choudhury Memorial Prize - The interest accrued upon the amount of Rs.500/- deposited by Sri Bhaskar Choudhury Ex- Lacturer in Physics and Ex-Superintendent, Main Hostel Balangir of this college in memory of his late father is awarded on the Annual Day Function of the hostel to a boarder of the Main Hostel, who secures the highest mark in the proceeding Final Examination.

    The Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent of the Main Hostel arrange for the award of the prize to a deserving boarder.

  11. Sri K.C. Dash Award - Interest accrued upon the fixed deposit of Rs.7000/- made by Smt. Lalita Dash, House No.M-38, Baramunda Housing Board Colony, Bhubaneswar vide TDR No.01201050288 dt.23.05.2003 with SBI, ADB, Balangir is awarded to the student securing highest mark in Chemistry Honours in the I/II & III/IV Degree Semester Exams. taken together in one of the Chemistry Seminars.
  12. Alumni Prize - The Interest accured upon the amount of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand) only donated by an Alumnus of this College through Dr. Abhimanyu Mishra, Ex-Principal (I/C) of the college is awarded to a student securing highest marks in Aggregate in +2 CHSE Annual Examination in Science Stream.

Recommendation for Prizes :

  1. Item Nos. 1-4 shall be taken up by the Vice-President, Students Council who shall recommend the name for approval towards the prize on the Annual Day Function of the Students' Council.
  2. Item Nos. 5,6 & 12 shall be recommended by the Vice-President Science Society.
  3. Item no.10 is to be recommended by the Superintendent of the Main Hostel.
  4. Item Nos.7 to 9 are recommended by Head of the P.G. Department of Commerce of this College and approved by the Principal.
  5. Item No.11 shall be recommended by HOD, Chemistry to the Principal for approval.

Commerce Association Running Cup (Best Graduate)

A running cup is awarded by the Commerce Society, Rajendra College to the best student of Commerce for the academic session.

Award is recommended by Commerce Society / Head of the Commerce Department, Rajendra College, Balangir.
